Best hotel views

Much of the appeal of a big vacation is the feeling of getting away from it all, of transporting yourself from the ritual of everyday life to something more exotic.

Part of that is enjoying a true change of scenery, as in trading in your familiar surroundings for a room with a view — the bigger and grander, the better.

Forbes Traveler, as you might expect, takes this sort of thing pretty seriously. Exhaustive research resulted in its list of “Hotels with the Most Terrific Views.”

Here’s what they came up with:

Lapa Rios, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica

Los Notros, Patagonia, Argentina

Wolwedans, NamibRand Nature Reserve, Namibia

Enchantment Resort and Mii amo Spa, Sedona, Ariz.

Oberoi Wildflower Hall, Shimla, Himalayas

Jackson Lake Lodge, Jackson, Wyo.

Sheraton Iguazu, Iguazu Falls, Argentina

Dreams Luxury Suites, Santorini, Greece

One and Only Reethi Rah, Maldives

Amanjiwo, Java, Indonesia

Read about all these scenic locales, and take in a slideshow, at Forbes Traveler.
