Top College Coaches
August 28, 2008
Identifying the top coach in college football at the moment is largely a flavor-of-the-month proposition.
Depending on which way the ball bounces, last year’s genius can be this season’s village idiot. The route from throne to hot seat is a short one, which might explain why so many coaches move around so often and don’t shy away from multi-million dollar offers from schools desperate to get in the game.
Still, a recent list of the very best in the business contains most of the usual suspects. Who’s hot and who’s not entering the 2008 season?
Here’s how Rivals.com ranks the Top 10:
1. Pete Carroll, USC
2. Jim Tressel, Ohio State
3. Urban Meyer, Florida
4. Les Miles, LSU
5. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
6. Mark Richt, Georgia
7. Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech
8. Jim Grobe, Wake Forest
9. Tommy Tuberville, Auburn
10. Nick Saban, Alabama
