Most Valuable NFL Teams
March 13, 2008
You know them and love them…unless, of course, you absolutely despite them, as so many do.
Who tops the list of most valuable franchises in the National Football League? Who else but the league’s lightning rod franchise, America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys. With a Super Bowl contender, a dazzling new stadium in the works, and $150,000 Personal Seat Licenses on the market, Jerry Jones and Company have shot to the top of the charts.
Got $1.5 billion burning a hole in your pocket and want to join the club? Jones might take your phone call. But probably not. The rich continue to get richer in a league in which huge TV deals coupled with a hard salary cap amount to a license to print money, rumblings of a labor stoppage notwithstanding.
While the Cowboys are raking it in, they are hardly alone. Check out the Top 10 on this Forbes list:
1. Dallas Cowboys — $1.5 billion
2. Washington Redskins — $1.467 billion
3. New England Patriots — $1.119 billion
4. Houston Texans — $1.056 billion
5. Philadelphia Eagles — $1.052 billion
6. Denver Broncos — $994 million
7. Chicago Bears — $984 million
8. New York Giants — $974 million
9. Cleveland Browns — $969 million
10. New York Jets — $967 million
That’s five billionaire franchises, and another group very much in hunt.
So, which is the least valuable NFL club? The Minnesota Vikings check in at No. 32 at a paltry $782 million.
