Actors jinxed by Oscar

Roberto Benigni is best-remembered for jumping over seats to collect his Life Is Beautiful gold. (He had practiced the acrobatic leaps the day before at the Oscar rehearsal, so it wasn’t as spontaneous as it seemed.) He also directed the 1997 Holocaust dramedy, which added to his day of glory. Since then, things haven’t been so glorious. It took five years for his next film, a live-action Pinocchio, to reach the screen, and poor Pinocchio was greeted with derision by critics and indifference by moviegoers. A later effort, The Tiger and the Snow, went nowhere. No more jumping for Benigni. Maybe he needs another director.

Beautiful!! You named the great big elephant that resides in the corner of the room – right next to the Oscar statuette – so very well!

I’ve often thought that winning that award was much more curse – than blessing!
