7 Back-to-School Styles for Little Kids

Even the littlest students want to look snappy in the first weeks of school. Shopperati.com offers these seven bits of style advice for the youngest members of the class.

1. Keep the shoes simple: Go for simple, durable and those that don’t show stains or scuffs, like cute Mary Janes or rocker slip-ons or well-built popular sneakers. If they like them, they’ll want to wear them every day.

2. Let ‘em wear jeans: They’re going to want them when they see the older kids, and now there are plenty of good quality jeans by popular brands (Diesel, Joe’s Jeans, Quiksilver) for the small ones.

3. Graphic T’s, with a gentle message: Leave the edgier statement Ts to the older kids. There are lots of cute logoed or graphic T-shirts for the smaller set. As the weather gets cooler, they can layer short-sleeved Ts over long-sleeves.

4. Tights are good, even for the littlest girls: They come in all colors (and the essential black pair), and look great topped with a cute hoodie/dress combo (pictured).

5. Hoodies are very good, even the littlest boys: They can be plain or plaid, camo or day-glo. They are perfect transition pieces into autumn. All the big boys wear hoodies, besides.

6. A great, downsized, backpack: All the shops that sell big backpacks have smaller versions for smaller customers, plus specialty bag Web sites have cute and colorful (or themed, for the boys) backpacks, as well as rolling bags.

7. One outfit that you just cannot resist: Because they’re still small enough, they’ll probably let you pick out one wonderful outfit that you really love for her or him. Think bold colors for the girls, and preppy for the boys.
