Super Bowl Champions

It’s the biggest one-day event in American sports, even if the game doesn’t always live up to the hype. Since its debut with about 30,000 empty seats at the Los Angeles Coliseum way back on Jan. 15, 1967, the Super Bowl has grown to become one of the year’s hottest tickets and a great excuse for major corporations to spend fortunes wining and dining important clients.
In recent years, even the action between the lines seems to be getting into the spirit of things. Of the past seven games, four have been decided by just three points. The New York Giants’ 17-14 victory over New England in Super Bowl XLII was even more memorable since it denied the Patriots a chance at an unbeaten season, a feat accomplished only once previously (Miami, 1972).
