TV Series Ending This Year

Bill Sullivan
October 22, 2008

All good things must come to an end…and a few not-so-good ones, too.

In television, if the ratings don’t get you, the creative drain almost certainly will. The producers behind a few notable series have opted for a graceful exit in the wake of declining viewership, while others simply acknowledge that the idea has run its course.

Before the first big wave of forced departures — better known as cancellations — shake up schedules, here are a few shows that will attempt to leave on their own terms, with the number of years of their run included:

Battlestar Gallactica: 5 seasons

Boston Legal: 5 seasons

ER: 15 seasons.

Late Night with Conan O’Brien: 16 seasons.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: 17 seasons.

The Shield: 7 seasons
