We’ve all done it.  We’ve picked up a magazine with pictures of beautifully decorated rooms filled with lavish accessories and exquisite artwork.  The first thought that comes to mind is, “I wish I could afford to decorate my home like that!”  Well, let me tell you, there is a way!  By following a few simple tips shared with my by interior decorators, you can easily and inexpensive bring new life to any room in your home.

Be selective! Follow one trend at a time.
There are so many different decorating fashions out there. It’s really difficult to make all of them work together.  Select one or two that you like. When you have a limit to which trends you follow, adding them into your home becomes a lot easier.

Work with what you have! Build upon your existing decor.
Do not get rid of your furniture and substitute it with new furniture just because you want to go with the latest fad. By next season, your leopard skin chair could be old news. Instead, try inexpensive accessories such as pillows, picture frames, candles and candleholders or lamps.

Don’t go crazy! Don’t overdo it.
Be careful not to do “too” much. A little bit goes a long way. If you want to showcase your artwork, a minimalist approach works best.   Filling a room with too many pieces can ruin the décor of a room.  You should buy items that are in scale with the room.  Buy larger pieces rather than several small pieces.

Be creative.
Follow the easiest, most inexpensive avenue. Shop around at yard sales and consignment shops for hidden treasures.

“As a mother of three small children, It’s important to me that I don’t waste money. I hope to share with viewers some tips that I have learned over the years as well as expert money saving advice. My motto is ‘You CAN have what you want at the price you want to pay!”
