Top U.S. shopping districts

In good times and bad, Americans love to shop. Even if a shrinking economy and the threat of more job losses may discourage too much discretionary spending, it’s still fun to visit a nice store and think about what you might do when better times come around.

For those who still have the means, the U.S. has plenty of trendy spots where a fool — er, shopper — and his money can easily be parted. According to Forbes Traveler, here are the hottest spots to test those credit limits:

Madison Ave., New York, N.Y.

Newbury St., Boston, Mass.

King St., Charleston, S.C.

Royal St., New Orleans, La.

Design District, Miami, Fla.

Magnificent Mile, Chicago, Ill.

Canyon Road, Santa Fe, N.M.

The Forum Shops at Caesars, Las Vegas, Nev.

Scottsdale Fashion Square, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, Calif.
