<p><img class="alignright alignnone size-medium wp-image-1250" style="float: right;" title="recycling_symbol" src="http://www.getlisty.com/images/recycling_symbol.png" alt="" width="91" height="82" />According to the <a href="http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/" target="_blank">results</a> of a nationwide Harris Poll of 2,602 U.S. adults, 53 percent of those surveyed said they have taken steps to green their life. The survey was done online between May 5 and 12, 2008 by <a href="http://www.harrisinteractive.com/" target="_blank">Harris Interactive</a> with input from The Nature Conservancy. Of those who are making changes to live a greener lifestyle, the most popular actions include:</p>
<ul type="disc">
<li>Recycling (91 percent)</li>
<li>Paying bills online (73 percent)</li>
<li>Trying to buy locally-produced food and/or goods (49 percent)</li>
<li>Buying green household products (47 percent)</li>
<li>Bringing their own reusable bags to stores instead of using paper or plastic (39 percent)</li>
<li>Carpooling (16 percent)</li>
<li>Driving less by combining errands, walking more, etc. (5 percent)</li>
<li>Reduced their utility use (4 percent)</li>
<li>Purchased hybrid cars (3 percent)</li>
<li>Changed out incandescent light bulbs for compact fluorescent ones (3 percent)</li>
