Here is a list of the major biographies of Michael Jackson:

Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones — With five bestselling crime books under her belt, author Aphrodite Jones has become a highly recognized authority on true crime. Jones has made more than one hundred television and radio appearances and has been quoted in articles that have appeared in the “Los Angeles Times”, “New York Post”, “Daily News”, “The Hollywood Reporter”, and “USA Today.” She is the author of the “New York Times” bestseller “Cruel Sacrifice,” and her account of the Brandon Teena story, “All She Wanted”, became an international bestseller and was transformed into the film “Boys Don’t Cry.”

Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask by Bob Jones — The author spent 34 years as Jackson’s chief of public relations; by his side since Michael was 11 years old. Bob Jones is the one person with this unique inside view of Michael Jackson’s world.

Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness by J.Randy Taraborrelli — This book is the fruit of over 30 years of research and hundreds of exclusive interviews with a remarkable level of access to the very closest circles of the Jackson family – including Michael himself. Cutting through tabloid rumours, J. Randy Taraborrelli traces the real story behind the Michael Jackson we see and hear today, from his drilling as a child star through the blooming of his talent to his ever-changing personal appearance and bizarre publicity stunts. This major biography includes the behind-the-scenes story to many of the landmarks in Jackson’s life: his legal and commercial battles, his marriages to Lisa Marie Presley and Debbie Rowe, his passions and addictions, his children.

Michael Jackson: For The Record by Chris Cadman and Craig Halstead — Michael Jackson first entered a recording studio in November 1967, just three months after his ninth birthday. Two years later he and his older brothers scored their first hit, ‘I Want You Back’ – and, despite set-backs that would have ended the career of a lesser man, Michael’s legion of fans remain as loyal today as they have ever been. This is the story of the man and his music…

Jacko, His Rise and Fall: The Social and Sexual History of Michael Jackson by Darwin Porter — Despite Michael Jackson’s spectacular fame, no one has ever published a fully inclusive and comprehensive biography with inside information about his highly dramatic life. All of that changed with the release of this book. Meticulously researched over several tumultuous decades, it explores and explains many of the secrets that Michael Jackson wanted to keep hidden from the world.

On Michael Jackson by Margo Jefferson – Pulitzer-winning New York Times critic Jefferson collects her meditations on what may be the oddest show-biz figure of all time. “Freaks” is the title of her first essay, and she notes Jackson’s attraction to Barnum as well as the strangely apt imagery of his best-known video, “Thriller.” Born in 1958 to a bullying father and a mother who was a Jehovah’s Witness convert, the youngest member of the Jackson Five quickly became its VIP. Child stars are never “normal,” and Jefferson glances at Buster Keaton, Jackie Coogan, Sammy Davis Jr. and, of course, Shirley Temple, the only one of them even more famous than Jackson, unless you count Elizabeth Taylor, Jackson’s “best friend,” who supplanted Diana Ross as his apparent role model.

One man’s haunting melody is another man’s fingernails on a chalkboard. So it goes in the music biz, where there always seems to be a fine line between sentimental and maudlin, sincerity and schtick.

With romance in the air and Cupid about to empty that quiver of arrows on the unsuspecting, the airwaves will be full of all kinds of old faves sure to set the heart aflutter. Of course, they will also be spewing out plenty of old junk certain to bring back all kinds of cringe-worthy memories of relationships that didn’t quite make it to the happily-ever-after phase.

What to look out for? Here’s our highly subjective take on some of the worst love songs of all time:

Awards show produces great moments...and some odd ones, too

When singer Chris Brown took a wrong turn on the way to the 51st Grammy Awards — instead going to jail in the wake of an alleged domestic dispute — it was just the latest in a long line of offbeat incidents surrounding the annual music awards.

Previously, Bob Dylan endured a very “special” guest. Jennifer Lopez showed up half-naked. Michael Jackson brought Elizabeth Taylor as a date and went home with eight statuettes. Norah Jones upstaged The Boss, and Milli Vanilli ushered in the age of the lip-synch.

And, of course, when you think heavy metal, you think…Jethro Tull?

The Grammys have their good moments, but the event has spawned its share of weird ones as well. Time looked back on some of the more peculiar episodes and pared them down to a list of 10:

Who’s the smartest? Who gets the biggest bedroom when someone moves out of the house?

For the most part, sibling rivalry is about petty (yet somehow enormously important) stuff. When the debate outgrows the household, however, the stakes get higher, the tricks get dirtier, and the ego bruises can hurt a little more.

Blender examined some of the top sibling wars in rock and roll history and came up with a list of 12.

Here goes, in reverse order:

12. Incubus vs. Audiovent

11. Brandy and Ray J

10. Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz

9. Benji Madden and Joel Madden

8. Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg

Being able to deliver time and time again requires a different kind of gift.

Billboard has been keeping tabs on pop music charts for more than 50 years. Needless to say, the editors have seen ‘em come and seen ‘em go.

A few of those artists, however, have had more staying power than others. As part of its 50th birthday celebration, Billboard compiled a list of performers who have spent more time atop the charts than any others.

Here’s their ranking of those who have enjoyed the most collective weeks at No. 1:

1. Mariah Carey — 79

4. Usher — 43

While most of us do our best to age as gracefully as possible (with varying degrees of success), celebrities prefer not to age at all — or at least to appear not to be getting older.

Alas, some of those efforts to hold back the ravages of time have been more successful than others. In many cases, the outcomes have been downright scary.

iVillage put together its list of what it considered the most high profile celebrity plastic surgeries, including before and after photos and a chance for readers to vote on whether the work qualfied as an improvement or not.

Here’s what they came up with:

Some old favorites really are getting up there

If it seems like just yesterday that Madonna, Prince, and Michael Jackson were breaking onto the entertainment scene…well, it wasn’t. Not even close, actually.

Turns out those three — and others — have been with us a while. They’ve been around long enough, in fact, that each turns 50 in 2008.

Who else hits the half century mark in ‘08? USA Today looked around a bit to see who is aging gracefully and otherwise. The search came up with a fairly impressive list of rich and famous who will be eligible for AARP membership before the end of the year.

Here’s a sampling, with the fateful date:

Ellen DeGeneres: Actress, talk show host (Jan. 26)

Ice-T: Actor, rapper (Feb. 16)

Patricia Heaton: Actress (March 4)

Sharon Stone: Actress (March 10)

Holly Hunter: Actress (March 20)

Alec Baldwin: Actor (April 3)

Michelle Pfeiffer: Actress (April 29)

Drew Carey: Actor, comedian, game show host (May 23)

Annette Bening: Actress (May 29)

Prince: Musician (June 7)

Kevin Bacon: Actor (July 8)

Madonna: Actress, singer (Aug. 16)

Tim Burton: Director (Aug. 25)

Michael Jackson: Musician (Aug. 29)

Tim Robbins: Actor (Oct. 16)

Alan Jackson: Musician (Oct. 17)

Viggo Mortensen: Actor (Oct. 20)

Marg Helgenberger: Actress (Nov. 16)

Jamie Lee Curtis: Actress (Nov. 22)

The promotion is scheduled to wrap up the week of Sept. 8 with — you guessed it — the Top 100 songs of all time.

To kick things off, Billboard lists most No. 1 singles by artist. That august group includes:

1. The Beatles — 20

2. Mariah Carey — 18

3. Michael Jackson — 13
