Guess again.

Forbes is out with its annual listing of the world’s most powerful celebrities, and the formidable Ms. Winfrey is no longer No. 1. That honor goes to none other than Angelina Jolie, equally famous for her roles as Hollywood star and mother to the world.

Brad and Jennifer seemed like such a perfect couple…or at least they did until Angelina came along. (Oops.)

The rich and famous seem to gravitate toward other rich and famous, which makes sense, in a way. Most often, though, things don’t seem to end happily ever after. The same tabloids who fawn all over the happy couple take equal glee in chronicling the eventual breakup in all its miserable splendor.

Some splits, of course, are more public and unpleasant than others. Us magazine sifted through the wreckage of some famous blowups and came up with its list of the worst of the worst.

Ah, the memories…

Here’s PETA’s take on stars with the least regard for the health and well-being of our furry, four-legged friends. The list of offenders includes:

Being able to deliver time and time again requires a different kind of gift.

Billboard has been keeping tabs on pop music charts for more than 50 years. Needless to say, the editors have seen ‘em come and seen ‘em go.

A few of those artists, however, have had more staying power than others. As part of its 50th birthday celebration, Billboard compiled a list of performers who have spent more time atop the charts than any others.

Here’s their ranking of those who have enjoyed the most collective weeks at No. 1:

1. Mariah Carey — 79

Few things validate a Hollywood star like a Broadway success. When movie stars tire of Hollywood type-casting or feel that their onscreen glow has softened, they turn bi-coastal and head east to Broadway. Celebs ranging from the late Katharine Hepburn to the very young Daniel Radcliffe have used this format to their advantage. Most Broadway sojourns produce the desired results. But not all.

Katie Holmes earned solid notices in the current revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, with Tom Cruise inevitably leading the opening-night applause. It was an example of smart planning on all corners. The 1947 play’s plot, in which a tycoon’s ill-gotten fortune comes from selling the Army faulty wartime artillery, is still topical. Katie’s role, while prominent, does not carry the action. Still, she held her own with footlights heavyweights John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest.

Daniel Radcliffe understandably seeks a change from the Harry Potter franchise. And his turn as Equus’s tormented stableboy undergoing extensive therapy is just what the doctor ordered. He won raves first on London’s West End and now on the Great White Way. The publicity generated by his nude scene didn’t hurt.

Debra Winger has announced plans to star in a Broadway version of the Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn/Sidney Poitier flick Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Barack Obama’s political ascent makes the storyline freshly topical, and Winger’s waning star power has risen with her performance as Anne Hathaway’s mother in Rachel Getting Married. Rumors that her An Officer and a Gentleman star Richard Gere would play the Tracy role have been denied by the Gere camp. Perhaps someone remembered that they were not on speaking terms when Officer and Gentleman finished filming.

Morgan Freeman and Frances McDormand barely made a dent with last summer’s revival of Clifford Odets’ The Country Girl. The play remains best known for the movie version starring Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly as the unhappily married couple. Obviously, the producers wanted to steer as far away as possible from the Crosby/Kelly prototypes, but no dialogue was added regarding the revival’s fresh inter-racial element. But both Morgan and McDormand continue to be swamped with character roles in movies.

2. Mariah Carey — 18

3. Michael Jackson — 13

Who's the best of the best over the past 25 years? You might be surprised

In putting together lists of some of the top achievements in entertainment over the past quarter century, Entertainment Weekly decided to make a lot of its readers angry.

(Well, that probably wasn’t the intent, but we’re betting it worked out that way.)

In the course of making lists of “New Classics,” EW decided to name the Top 100 albums produced between 1983 and 2008. There are some interesting inclusions — and omissions — to say the least.

Here are the first 10:

1. Purple Rain Prince and the Revolution (1984)
2. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Lauryn Hill (1998)
3. Achtung Baby U2 (1991)
4. The College Dropout Kanye West (2004)
5. Madonna Madonna (1983)
6. American Idiot Green Day (2004)
7. The Blueprint Jay-Z (2001)
8. Graceland Paul Simon (1986)
9. Back to Black Amy Winehouse (2007)
10. In Rainbows Radiohead (2007)

Haven’t seen your favorite artist or recording yet? We’re betting a lot of folks are in the same boat.

After you’ve calmed down a bit, visit Entertainment Weekly to see the rest of the list.

Celebrities aren't like the rest of us. Their kids' names aren't, either

The addition of two bundles of joy to the Jolie-Pitt homestead elevates Angelina and Brad to the highest plateau of public favor. Even after the birth of their first biological child and their various adoptions and humanitarian works, the specter of Jennifer Aniston clouded their public personae. But who can resist a pair of twins?

Their new arrivals are christened Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. You can bet that even the most intimate chums won’t lean over the crib and say, “Hi, Viv!,” particularly with the French spelling. Marcheline was the name of Angelina’s mother, who died in January 2007 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Knox Leon (Leon pronounced with a long “o”) was so named because dad Brad is a fan of artist Archibald Knox and has collected several of the late artist’s works. The day after Angelina gave birth, the Archibald Knox Web site reportedly received over 2,000 hits.

Celebrities are different from us ordinary mortals. Among those differences is their practice of giving offspring unusual names. What follows is a list of celebrity baby names, and there’s not a Dick or Jane among them.

Matthew McConaughey’s new arrival is Levi, but he’s not named for the jeans that Matthew occasionally bothers to put on. The spiritual star explains that Levi is another name for the Biblical apostle Matthew. Early tabloid reports predicted that the bouncing baby boy would be named Budweiser, after his pop’s favorite beer. After all, Matthew’s big brother Rooster named his son Miller Lyte.

Julia Roberts named her twins Hazel and Phinnaeus. Nothing wrong with Hazel other than its vintage seems to be several generations ago. But Phinnaeus??? It’s a family name, says Julia. But try explaining that to the kids at school.

Also on the previous-generations name register is Matilda, daughter of Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams. Possibly she was named for the Aussie folk song “Waltzing Matilda.” FYI, Jake Gyllenhaal was her godfather.
