States Bush Won in 2004

When George W. Bush was elected to a second term as President in 2004, the nation’s heartland made the difference. While the coasts and the northeast went decidedly blue, the middle of the country was a sea of red.

In all, 31 states went Republican in ‘04, providing Bush with 286 electoral votes. (Only 270 are required to win.)

Here’s a list of the states that ended up on the winning side:
