Silver Creek’s investment strategy is to provide resources and guidance to outstanding management teams that are building market-leading companies in the information technology arena. The firm has made investments in over 70 portfolio companies in the past. Some representative investments from the Firm’s current and previous venture funds include the following:

Networking/Communications Equipment:

Aktino, Inc. — Aktino has developed a carrier grade product portfolio that allows telecommunications service providers to leverage the embedded copper loop infrastructure to deliver a wide range of high-speed, high-quality broadband services.

Alteon WebSystems — Developed and marketed web caching, load balancing and Gigabit Ethernet switching equipment. IPO, then acquired by Nortel Networks.

Bivio Networks — The leading supplier of next generation network appliance platforms, enabling application developers to rapidly develop and deploy market-leading, wire-speed, deep-packet processing network applications.

Cellfire — Delivers coupons and discount offers directly to consumer’s mobile phones.

Diamond Lane Communications — Develops and markets telecommunications infrastructure equipment for the last mile, xDSL. Sold to Nokia (NYSE: NOK).

Hammerhead Systems, Inc. — Hammerhead Systems is the market leader in Aggregation, Interworking and Migration solutions to accelerate profitable delivery of new Ethernet and existing legacy services at a fraction of the cost and complexity.

NetSocket –  Developing IP Service Assurance solutions for managing real-time services in IP networks.

OpenConnect Systems –  Developed and marketed software for mainframe to Internet connectivity. Sold to Goff Moore.

Optical Data Systems — Developed, manufactured and marketed local area networking equipment. IPO.

ONI Systems — Develops and markets optical switching equipment for the metropolitan area. IPO, then acquired by Ciena.

Pivot3 — Focused on delivering highly scalable, fault tolerant IP-based clustered storage systems composed of industry standard servers. The company boasts strong intellectual property in distributed RAID and time-based I/O journaling for delivering the next generation of block-based clustered storage.

PowerFile, Inc. –  The innovator in active archiving appliances for permanent storage of digital content and assets. The company’s award-winning storage solutions combine the speed and simplicity of online access with better economics and integrity compared to traditional archives, empowering organizations of all sizes to efficiently manage, secure, and preserve valuable digital assets.

Shomiti Systems — Developed and marketed network management systems for local area networks. Acquired by Finisar.

Wireless & Services:

Centennial Communications — Provided wireless services in various countries in South America. Sold to Nextel International.

Corsair Communications — Develops and markets cellular fraud detection equipment and cellular services. IPO, then acquired by Lightbridge (Nasdaq:LTBG).

MetroPCS — Owns licenses to operate broadband PCS in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Atlanta, and Miami.

ProNet — Early market leader in wireless paging services. IPO (Nasdaq: PNET), then purchased by MetroCall.

Semiconductors:

Ateq (d/b/a ETEC) — Dominant producer of laser-based semiconductor mask-making equipment. Sold, then merged into ETEC.

Chromatic Research — Developed and marketed multimedia semiconductors and software. Sold to ATI (Nasdaq: ATYT).

Credence Systems — Develops, manufactures and markets semiconductor automatic test equipment for application specific semiconductors (ASICs). Public (Nasdaq: CMOS).

Crystal Semiconductor — Develops and markets application specific semiconductors for the graphics, audio, video and multimedia market places. Sold to Cirrus Logic. (Nasdaq: CRUS).

WaferScale Integration — Developed programmable system devices and flash memory semiconductors. Acquired by STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM).

Xilinx — Inventor of and dominant market participant in the programmable gate array semiconductor market. IPO (Nasdaq: XLNX).
