Retired Rangers Numbers

When you’ve won a total of one playoff game in your history, it stands to reason that your all-time roster may not overflow with legends.

So it is with your Rangers. The likes of Michael Young, Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton may be worthy of consideration some day, but for the moment, the club’s list of retired numbers is, shall we say, short.

Curious who’s in?

Here goes:

34 — Nolan Ryan. Number retired Sept. 15, 1996. Only player to have his number retired by three teams: The Angels, Astros and Rangers.

42 — Jackie Robinson. When did he play in Arlington?? He didn’t, of course. The Dodger legend, who broke baseball’s color barrier, had his number retired by all Major League clubs in 1997.
