Newspapers likely to fold

When the Rocky Mountain News ceased publication last month, it sent shock waves through the newspaper industry. Print media is in big trouble, and the Rocky’s demise is probably just the first of many likely to take place this year, a trend that continued with the March 17 demise of the print version of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Some will go digital, as the P-I is attempting to do. Others will simply go away. Whatever form the transition takes, the reporting of daily news on the local level will never be the same.

24/7 Wall St. has a list of the 10 publications most likely to go out of business next. If your hometown paper is on the endangered list, read it while you can.

The Philadelphia Daily News

The Minneapolis Star Tribune

The Miami Herald

The Detroit News

The Boston Globe

San Francisco Chronicle

Chicago Sun-Times

New York Daily News

Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Cleveland Plain Dealer
