Most MLB Games, No Playoffs
March 19, 2008
Michael Young of the Texas Rangers may be one of baseball’s most highly regarded players, a multi-time American League All-Star and former All-Star Game MVP.
Lately, however, he finds himself in some less distinguished company.
Young is in his eighth big league season, all with the Rangers. The previous seven have produced just one winning record and no playoff appearances. That dubious run left Young ninth on the season-opening list of 10 players who have appeared in more than 1,000 regular season games, were active at the end of 2007, but have yet to qualify for the postseason.
Who are the others?
Interestingly enough, Young has company in the Texas clubhouse. Teammate Frank Catalanotto holds down the No. 8 spot, having played 1,075 major league games without lacing up the spikes for a playoff.
The Futile 10, with current or most recent team:
Damion Easley, New York Mets – 1,593
