Dysfunctional movie families

The holidays are full of images of happy families gathered around dining room tables, enjoying turkey and dressing, catching up on old times. And, for some of us, there’s actually at least a hint of a connection between fact and fable.

Not everyone, however, looks forward to getting the whole gang together under one roof. Hollywood has immortalized its share of get-togethers gone somewhat awry.

Just in time for the ‘08 season, the New York Daily News produced a list of “Movie’s most dysfunctional families.” Here’s a look:

The Griswolds, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The Fockers, Meet the Fockers

The Castorinis, Moonstruck

The Tenenbaums, The Royal Tenenbaums

The Lords, The Philadelphia Story

The Finches, Running with Scissors

The Larsons, Home for the Holidays

The Stones, The Family Stone

The Sawyers, Texas Chainsaw Massacre
