Cities with Lowest Housing Costs
August 27, 2008
Nothing eats up a budget like the cost of your home. If you need space for kids, a home office, or extra rooms just to accomodate all the stuff you’ve acquired over the years, odds are you are going to pay dearly for the privilege.
Keeping those costs in line can go a long way toward freeing up cash for little things like food and gasoline. MensHealth set out to identify the American cities where residents spent the lowest percentage of their household income on keeping a roof over their heads.
Here’s part of the list, in reverse order:
10. Fort Wayne, IN
9. Durham, NC
8. Des Moines, IA
7. Bangor, ME
6. Billings, MT
5. Montgomery, AL
4. Cheyenne, WY
3. Charleston, WV
Check out the top two, and see more lists, at MensHealth.com.
