Best TV Theme Songs

You’ve probably never tuned into a TV show just to hear the theme song. (And, if you had, you’d surely never admit it!)

Still, a snappy tune as introduction doesn’t hurt a show’s popularity, and some have stood out more than others. Entertainment Weekly set out to establish a list of the 25 best TV theme songs of the past 25 years.

Here are the first 10:

A-Team

Friends

Miami Vice

The Sopranos

The O.C.

It’s Garry Shandling’s Show

The Simpsons

Sex and the City

Law & Order

Charles in Charge

Missing a favorite or two? They may or may not be on the rest of the list, which you can find by visiting Entertainment Weekly.

Too bad EW go back further than 25 years because then it could have included the memorable theme from “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” as well my personal all-time favorite TV theme, from the British TV series “Dangerman,” that ultimately became my least favorite TV theme when it was imported to the United States as “Secret Agent Man.”
