42nd CMA Award Nominations

Kenny Chesney leads the list of nominees for the 2008 Country Music Assocation Awards with seven.

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year was nominated in that category again, as well as Male Vocalist; Album for Just Who I Am:Poets & Pirates; Single for “Don’t Blink;” plus two Musical Event nominations, one with Reba McEntire for “Every Other Weekend” and one with George Strait for “Shiftwork”; and Music Video of the Year for “Don’t Blink.” Chesney could receive two additional trophies for producing his Album and Single with Buddy Cannon.

George Strait and Sugarland received five nominations each, while Jennifer Nettles got a total of six nominations, including Songwriter Nod for “Stay.” Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley each received four nominations.

Winners will be announced Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
