NCAA Regional scoring records
March 24, 2009
By the time the NCAA Tournament is reduced from 65 to 16 teams, the “just happy to be here” types are long gone and the competition is hot and heavy.
While more people remember Final Four heroics, Regional games have provided the stage for some remarkable showings as well.
Here’s a list of the top scoring games in Regional history, with opponent, round, and date:
56 — Oscar Robertson, Cincinnati vs. Arkansas, regional third place, 3-15-1958
52 — Austin Carr, Notre Dame vs. Kentucky, regional semifinal, 3-12-1970
47 – Austin Carr, Notre Dame vs. Houston, regional third place, 3-20-1971
46 – Dave Corzine, DePaul vs. Louisville, regional semifinal, 3-17-1978 (2OT)
45 – Bob Houbregs, Washington vs. Seattle, regional semifinal, 3-13-1953
45 – Austin Carr, Notre Dame vs. Iowa, regional third place, 3-14-1970
