Seven Wonders of the World
July 18, 2008
Remember the Seven Wonders of the World? Many of those are no more, so now we have the New Seven Wonders of the World, including the breath-taking
Taj Mahal (right). More than 100 million votes from all over the world were cast in this campaign by the New7Wonders Foundation, which was established to help protect the world’s heritage and to foster respect for global cultural diversity.
The foundation now has a new campaign to name the New Seven Wonders of Nature. You can vote for your favorites or nominate sites here. To monitor voting, see the Live Rankings page.
See how the new wonders stack up against the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World at this slideshow from National Geographic.
Here is the official list of the New Seven Wonders of the World:
- The Pyramid at Chichén Itzá (before 800 A.D.), Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
