All-Time Bowl Victories

In college football, it’s not so much how you start as how you finish. Fans tend to exalt or brood over that last game, and losing can make for a long and uncomfortable offseason for coaches and players alike.

Who’s been No. 1 at sending the alums into winter with smiles on their faces? Most of the usual suspects are bunched near the top of the all-time bowl victories list,  but for the moment, Alabama’s Crimson Tide sets the pace.

Interestingly enough, nine of the top 10 received an invitation to some kind of bowl at the end of the 2007 season. The lone exception — Nebraska, which failed to qualify after finishing 5-7. Small wonder the Cornhuskers have a new coach for 2008!

The list:

Alabama — 31
Southern Cal – 30
Penn State – 26
Tennessee –25
Georgia — 24
Oklahoma — 24
Texas – 24
Georgia Tech – 22
Nebraska — 22
Florida State – 20
