Maverick (1994)
James Garner returns to the franchise that him famous, if not to the actual role. This time around, Mel Gibson is card-playing gunslinger Brett Maverick, while Garner is Marshal Zane Cooper. On his way to a big-time poker tournament in St. Louis, Maverick meets Cooper and fellow-gambler Annabelle Bransford, played by Jody Foster. Garner and Gibson charm their way through, and the result is easy enough to like, if not terribly memorable.
