Get Smart (2008)

Steve Carell steps outside The Office to fill the shoe phone of Don Adams, who created the Maxwell Smart role in the iconic 1960s series. Carell is less bumbling than insecure, but he still longs to morph from a nerdish role inside CONTROL to the more sexy and dangerous work in the field. Ann Hathaway inherits the Barbara Feldon part as Agent 99, who spends much of her time saving the fish-out-of-water Agent 86 from harm. The update from the Cold War original to a 21st Century reality is handled deftly, and Carell and Hathaway seem to have a good time in what ends up being an entertaining remake.
