If you are one of those weary road warriors convinced that air travel is getting worse by the day, consider this: According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the average on-time arrival rate for the 19 biggest domestic passenger carriers in 2008 was 76%—a slight increase from 73.4% in 2007.

Thank US Airways. The carrier accounted for much of that jump by improving from a 68.7 percent success rate in 2007 to a much more reliable 80.1 percent a year later.

Which airlines do the best? Forbes Traveler has the rankings of all 19 major U.S. carriers.
