MLB Home Run Derby Winners
July 12, 2009
The home run is undoubtedly the most exciting play in baseball. It energizes the crowd as much as anything else in sports and can have an overwhelming impact on any game.
The tradition of the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby was started in 1985 in conjunction with the All-Star Game and pitted an American League team vs. one from the National League. In the early ‘90s the American League began to dominate the exhibition, so the rules were changed to make the Derby an individual competition.
