Women’s golf might not have the visibility of the PGA Tour, but for the best women golfers, it isn’t a bad way to make a buck. For the past four seasons, the top money winner on the LPGA tour has taken home more than $2.5 million, and that’s before you start talking about appearance fees, endorsements, etc.

Since 2000, Annika Sorenstam has topped the list five times, amassing more than $12 million in those years alone. Small wonder Sorenstam was able to announce her retirement at the end of the 2008 season.

Here’s the list of the annual top money winners over that time:

2007 — Lorena Ochoa, $4,364,994

2006 — Lorena Ochoa, $2,592,872

2005 — Annika Sorenstam, $2,588,240

2004 — Annika Sorenstam, $2,544,707

2003 — Annika Sorenstam, $2,029,506

2002 — Annika Sorenstam, $2,863,904

2001 — Annika Sorenstam, $2,105,868

2000 — Karrie Webb, $1,876,853
