Worst occupations
January 9, 2009
Let’s face it: Most of us aren’t all that keen on the idea of getting up and going to work in the morning.
In many cases, there may be a good reason for that — particularly if the job we are doing features dreary conditions, poor pay, and no hope for improvement.
A recent study by CareerCast.com, an online job service, examined 200 professions to determine the best and worst. The survey assessed five criteria common to any job: environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress.
Here are the 10 worst occupations for 2009, according to CareerCast and JobsRated.com:
200. Lumberjack
199. Dairy worker
198. Taxi driver
197. Seaman
196. EMT
195. Roofer
194. Garbage collector
193. Welder
192. Roustabout
191. Ironworker
If you’ve dodged the bullet so far, your little slice of heaven may not be far behind. Check out the rest of the list at CareerCast.com.
