Forbes Fictional 15 for 2008

Bill Sullivan
December 24, 2008

If your job is in peril, your 401k has been sliced in half, and those plans for early retirement are looking sketchy at best, take heart.

Willy Wonka, Lucius Malfoy and Princess Peach feel your pain…or at least they would if they actually existed.

Even in the fictional world, no one is safe from a bad economy. When Forbes put together its Fictional 15 for 2007, all three of those made the cut. This year, they are nowhere to be seen.

How bad are things? In 2007, you needed $1.3 billion to make the cut. This year, a paltry $800 million qualifies for membership.

Who’s on top after the big shakeup? Why, of course, it has to be the only one with a license to print money!

Here’s the list, with 2008 estimated worth:

1. Uncle Sam: Infinite

2. Scrooge McDuck: $29.1 billion

3. Richie Rich: $12.3 billion

4. Gordon Gekko: $8.5 billion

5. Jabba the Hut: $8.4 billion

6. Ebenezer Scrooge: $8 billion

7. Tony Stark: $7.9 billion

8. Thurston Howell II: $6.5 billion

9. Bruce Wayne: $5.8 billion

10. Adrian “Ozymandias” Veidt: $5.4 billion

11. Jed Clampett: $3.6 billion

12. Artemis Fowl II: $1.6 billion

13. C. Montgomery Burns: $996 million

14. Lara Croft: $900 million

15. Mr. Monopoly: $800 million

To read more about these and see a slideshow of all, head on over to Forbes.
