World’s top champagnes
January 14, 2009
It’s probably a little late to be popping the cork to celebrate the arrival of a New Year, but maybe that isn’t such a bad thing. Some champagnes are better left in the bottle, at least for the time being, because their value is only likely to go up.
Forbes did a survey to determine which are the world’s most coveted vintages. If you happen to have one of these on ice, our advice is to leave it there. In these challenging financial times, you never know when that bubbly can help pick up a mortgage payment or cover that credit card bill.
Here’s the list:
10. Louis Roederer Cristal 1989: $6,417.90
9. Salon Mensil 1996: $3,545.90
8. Dom Perignon 1982: $4,813.60
7. Dom Perignon 1996: $3,409.70
6. Louis Roederer Cristal 1996: $5,014.20
5. Krug 1995: $2,797.80
4. Krug 1988: $4,813,50
3. Krug 1990: $4,412.50
2. Krug 1985: $4,693.40
1. Krug 1996: $4,713.40
