Watchmen: Movies from graphic novels

Persepolis (2007). Marjane Satrapi co-wrote and co-directed this beautiful animation of her autobiographical graphic novels. The film tells of a young girl’s search for her own identity, first in her homeland Iran and then in Europe. It’s a poignant study of human resilience, hope and occasional despair. It was a major art-house hit but, at least on these shores, never found the widespread audience it deserved.
