Can you and your family have a great time hitting the slopes while still looking out for the environment?
The Ski Area Citizens’ Coalition says yes…and no.
The most recent edition of the organization’s Ski Area Environmental Scorecard ranks the best and worst resorts in terms of negative impact on the local ecosystem. According to the survey, here are some places the environmentally conscious might wish to avoid.
1. Copper Mountain Ski Resort - Colorado 29.0%
2. Breckenridge Ski Resort - Colorado 33.4%
3. Sun Valley Resort - Idaho 34.7%
4. Brundage Mountain Resort - Idaho 40.0%
5. Crystal Mountain Ski Area - Washington 40.0%
6. White Pass Ski Area - Washington 41.3%
7. Crested Butte Mountain Resort - Colorado 42.0%
8. Kirkwood Mountain Resort - California 42.2%
9. Winter Park Resort - Colorado 42.2%
10. 49 Degrees North Resort - Washington 43.6%
