Fame can be fleeting, especially in the music business. Just when you think you’ve made it, you can be confronted with the sobering news that a rocket ride to No. 1 just might be as good as it gets.

Billboard compiled a list of artists who reached No. 1 in their first and only chart appearance, starting with the earliest act to do so. The group includes artists who reached No. 1 on Billboard in the chart’s first 50 years.

Remember these guys? Probably not…

Here’s the list, with song and the date on which the record peaked:

The Elegants: “Little Star” (8/25/1958)

Dominique: “The Singing Nun” (12/7/1963)

Zager & Evans: “In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)” (7/12/1969)

M: “Pop Muzik” (11/3/1979)

USA For Africa: “We Are The World” (4/13/1985)

Jan Hammer: “Miami Vice Theme” (11/9/1985)

Bobby McFerrin: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” (9/24/1988)

Sheriff: “When I’m With You” (2/4/1989)
