Best airport bars
April 29, 2009
When air travel goes wrong, it tends to go wrong in a big way. That slight delay at your point of departure turns into bad weather at your destination and time waiting for another plane to clear the gate once you get there.
Canceled flights? Missed connections? Don’t even get us started.
It’s enough to drive a person to drink, and more and more airports are getting the message: If you can’t improve the service, at least give folks a place to chill out and take the edge off a bit.
Forbes Traveler is out with a list of America’s Best Airport Bars. If things aren’t going well in terms of getting where you’re going, at least you can kill off a couple of hours with a cool one.
Here are the ones they liked best:
Woodford Reserve Bar & Grill, Louisville International Airport
re:vive, John F. Kennedy Airport
Laurelwood Brewing Co., Portland International Airport
Shipyard Brewing Co., Portland International Jetport
New Belgium Hub Bar & Grill, Denver International Airport
Cibo Bistro and Wine Bar, Philadelphia International Airport
Vino Volo Locations across America, including Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Sacramento
SweetWater Draft House, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
Heineken Lounge, Newark International Airport
Wasatch Brew Pub and Squatters Pub, Salt Lake International Airport
To read more about these, and to see what each looks like, head on over to Forbes Traveler.
