			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When the <a href="http://www.rockymountainnews.com" target="_blank"><em>Rocky Mountain News</em></a> ceased publication last month, it sent shock waves through the newspaper industry. Print media is in big trouble, and the <em>Rocky</em>&#8217;s demise is probably just the first of many likely to take place this year, a trend that continued with the March 17 demise of the print version of the Seattle <em>Post-Intelligencer</em>.</p>
<p>Some will go digital, as the <em>P-I</em> is attempting to do. Others will simply go away. Whatever form the transition takes, the reporting of daily news on the local level will never be the same.</p>
<p><em><a href="http://www.247wallst.com" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://www.247wallst.com" target="_blank">24/7 Wall St.</a> </em>has a list of the 10 publications most likely to go out of business next. If your hometown paper is on the endangered list, read it while you can.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As newspapers and traditional media in general struggle to find a foothold in journalism&#8217;s brave new world, more and more of the spread of information will be left to bloggers.</p>
<p>Is that a good thing? Depends on the blog. While some are merely ego-fueled drivel, plenty of blogs are run by responsible caretakers who deliver a professional-quality product.</p>
