Is it safe to get back in the water? Summer isn’t far away, and families will be heading to the beach, looking to kick up some sand, take in some rays, and get a watery break from the heat.

Of course, some dips are more risky than others. The ocean is full of perils, not the least of which is our toothy old friend, Mr. Shark.

Where is the unwary swimmer most likely to become a snack? Forbes Traveler has a list of North America’s worst shark attack beaches.

Here goes:

New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

North Shore Oahu, Hawaii

Long Beach Island, N.Y.

West End, Grand Bahamas Island

Stinson Beach, Calif.

Beaches of Brevard County, Fla.

Horry County, S.C.

Solana Beach, Calif.

Galveston, Tex.

Zihuatanejo, Mex.
