The quest for eternal youth and immortality is alive and long-lived in our cultural imagination. Look at all of the myths and stories that rely on the ageless, timeless, wrinkle-free, blood-sucking — well, let’s take a look at LiveScience’s Top 10 list of famous immortals.

• Peter Pan, the eternal boychild from the books by J. M. Barrie
• Dracula, our favorite vampire from Bram Stoker’s novel and multiple films
• Lazarus Long, who lives on and on in Robert Heinlein’s books
• Nicolas Flamel, alchemist friend of Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
• Tithonus, mortal lover (and eventual grasshopper) of the Greek goddess Eos
• Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray (could it have been Botox?)
• Highlander from the film of the same name, in which our hero lives forever in his quest for … mortality?
• Grail Knight from Indian Jones and the Last Crusade
• Methuselah from the Old Testament and granddad to Noah (where was he when that flood hit, one wonders!)
• Arwen from The Lord of the Rings (although she does die!)
