Top American Wine Regions

October 8, 2008

If you are a fan of the grape, California truly is a little slice of heaven. From Mendocino County to Santa Barbara, the Golden State produces some of the world’s finest wines, and the industry has become big business.

How big? If California was a nation, it would be the world’s No. 4 wine-producing country behind France, Italy and Spain.

Recently, Forbes Traveler set out to identify America’s Top Wine Regions. Not surprisingly, six of the 10 were located in California.

Here’s the list:

Mendocino County, Calif.

Monterey County, Calif.

Napa Valley, Calif.

New York State

Oregon State

Paso Robles, Calif.

Santa Barbara County, Calif.

Sonoma County, Calif.

Virginia State

Washington State
