U.S. Olympic Women’s Swimming Team

They range in age from 15 to 41, and the talent pool is deep for the members of the U.S. women’s Olympic swimming team who will compete in Beijing.

There are 22 women on the team, including five-time Olympian Dara Torres (she’s the oldest), four-time Olympian Amanda Beard and two-time Olympian (and world record-holder) Natalie Coughlin. Those three have been named team captains. Katie Hoff of Towson, Md., is slated to compete in the most events: six.

The American team’s head coach is Jack Bauerle. During the Olympic trials in early July in Omaha, Neb., multiple world and American records were broken. Dara Torres, pictured, broke the American record for the 50-meter freestyle in 24.25.
