States McCain won

Bill Sullivan
November 21, 2008

Despite losing the 2008 U.S. Presidential election, Republican John McCain persuaded voters in 21 states to support his candidacy. Unfortunately for McCain, that resulted in only 173 of the 270 Electoral College votes he needed to claim the White House.

Here’s a list of the states that went “red” in 2008:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Georgia
Idaho
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Utah
West Virginia
Wyoming
