NBA All-Time Scoring Leaders

Bill Sullivan
June 4, 2008

It’s a record that serves as testament both to brilliance and longevity. You have to do your thing very, very well, and you have to be lucky enough to do it for a long, long time.

Among the top scorers in NBA history through the 2007-08 season, only two active players (Phoenix’s Shaquille O’Neal at No. 11 and Detroit’s Allen Iverson at No. 20) ranked in the Top 20.   The rest is a veritable Who’s Who of the game’s biggest names and greatest stars.

The usual suspects are here. So, perhaps, is a surprise or two.

Here’s your Top 10:

1. Kareem Abdul Jabbar (Milwaukee, LA Lakers): 38,387

2. Karl Malone (Utah): 36,928

3. Michael Jordan (Chicago, Washington Wizards): 32.292

4. Wilt Chamberlain (Philadelphia Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, LA Lakers): 31,419

5. Moses Malone (Buffalo, Houston, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington, Atlanta, Milwaukee, San Antonio): 27,409

6. Elvin Hayes (San Diego, Houston, Baltimore/Capital/Washington): 27,313

7. Hakeem Olajuwon (Houston, Toronto): 26,946

8. Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati, Milwaukee): 26,710

9. Dominique Wilkins (Atlanta, LA Clippers, Boston, San Antonio, Orlando):26,668

10. John Havlicek (Boston): 26,395
