Most expensive car options

You’ve crunched the numbers and figured out what you can afford, and it’s not all that much. Now, you’re peering at that sticker on the window of that brand new car you covet, and your heart begins to sink.

Sure, you might be able to make the monthlies on that basic vehicle. But how can you live without that leather interior, concert hall-quality sound system, moon roof and more?

Ah, yes, the option package, the guilty pleasure than adds thousands of dollars to the bottom line – even more when financed over five years or more.

Forbes took a look around and identified some of the more outrageous dollar figures for a single or bundle of new car options. Here’s the list:

Mercedes-Benz GL 450: $8,600

Infiniti M35 and M35x: $8,900

Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG: $9,550

Audi A8L: $11,500

Lexus LS 600h L: $12,000

Jaguar XKR: $12,000

Lexus LS 600h L: $12,570

BMW 7 Series: $14,000

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG: $14,070

Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S: $16,900
