Most expensive car options
October 17, 2008
You’ve crunched the numbers and figured out what you can afford, and it’s not all that much. Now, you’re peering at that sticker on the window of that brand new car you covet, and your heart begins to sink.
Sure, you might be able to make the monthlies on that basic vehicle. But how can you live without that leather interior, concert hall-quality sound system, moon roof and more?
Ah, yes, the option package, the guilty pleasure than adds thousands of dollars to the bottom line – even more when financed over five years or more.
Forbes took a look around and identified some of the more outrageous dollar figures for a single or bundle of new car options. Here’s the list:
– Mercedes-Benz GL 450: $8,600
– Infiniti M35 and M35x: $8,900
– Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG: $9,550
– Audi A8L: $11,500
– Lexus LS 600h L: $12,000
– Jaguar XKR: $12,000
– Lexus LS 600h L: $12,570
– BMW 7 Series: $14,000
– Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG: $14,070
– Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S: $16,900
