Each summer, as another college football season beckons, the drumbeat begins again.
Who is the best of the best? Which player will end the season with a trip to New York to pick up the latest replica of that famous fellow flashing the stiffarm? Public relations directors at all the usual suspects are kept doubly busy when their school has a legitimate contender.
Not coincidentally, the schools with the most Heisman Trophy winners are also among college football’s most storied institutions. Success attracts talent, and more talent tends to bring more success.
