Daytime Emmy Winners

The writing is usually awful, and the acting can be even worse. The pace of production doesn’t allow for much in the way of extra takes or heavy editing, so results can be uneven at best, cringe-worthy on a particularly  bad day.

Still, for all its warts, daytime television retains a large and devoted following. That’s why there was plenty of interest when the 2008 Daytime Emmys were distributed earlier this summer.

In case you missed it (and most of you probably did), here were the major winners:

Drama Series: General Hospital

Lead Actor: Anthony Geary (Luke, General Hospital)

Lead Actress: Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, The Young & the Restless)

Supporting Actor: Kristoff St. John (Neil, The Young and the Restless)

Supporting Actress: Gina Tognoni, (Dinah, Guiding Light)

Younger Actress: Jennifer Landon (ex-Gwen, As the World Turns)

Younger Actor: Tom Pelphrey (ex-Jonathan, Guiding Light)
