Cars that could save Detroit

Is the Detroit automobile industry worth saving? That’s the question as the government pours billions of dollars into the troubled sector, hoping the infusion will pay off in the form of a big turnaround.

At the heart of any rally, of course, is a simple concept: Make better cars, ones that will attract interest both at home and abroad.

Some of those may already be on the production line. U.S. News & World Report recently put together a list of 10 Cars That Could Salvage Detroit.

Here’s what they came up with:

1. Ford Fiesta

2. EV-1

3. Chevy Volt

4. Cadillac Escalade

5. Chevy Camaro

6. GMC Acadia

7. Chevy Cruze

8. Ford F-150

9. Jeep Wrangler

10. Chrysler “Secret”
