When some 1,500 members of the film industry and occupations related to it were asked to rank the Top 10 Gangster Movies of all time, it truly was an offer they couldn’t refuse.

Polled by the American Film Institute as part of naming its top genre films, the group responded by awarding Don Corleone and his dysfunctional family the No. 1 and No. 3 spots overall. The rest of the list includes some familiar names, and perhaps a surprise or two.

Here goes:

1. The Godfather (1972)
2. Goodfellas (1990)
3. The Godfather, Part II (1974)
4. White Heat (1949)
5. Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
6. Scarface: The Shame of a Nation (1932)
7. Pulp Fiction (1994)
8. The Public Enemy (1931)
9. Little Caesar (1931)
10. Scarface (1983)
